Are there any lightened flywheels in australia? or is machining the only option?

I'd buy one from japan but I'm not a fan of the shipping costs..

you can buy em in australia, but they are not cheap

you can lighten your standard one, just get it done by someone that knows that they are doing. Don't lighten it too much though or it will crack and go boom :)

When you say not cheap, im willing to spend about 600 for one in Australia, just don't know where to get it. Or are they more expensive than that?

machining the ring from the back has a marked effect, because its at the greatest diameter eh (GA16 one in the pic, which allows a bigger clutch)

If you're willing to pay $600 for a flywheel, why wouldn't you import something? I know prices would have changed a bit over the years, but the ultra-light weight Jun flywheel was pretty cheap when I got it.

http://perfectrun.jp/src/detail.php?pid=49003&pname=LIGHT%20WEIGHT%20FLYWHEEL&maker=JUN&maker_id=49&result_mode=qui&cbid=101&carid=101042_10110

Not sure if that last link will work, but the perfectrun site is quoting AU$475 for the 3.6kg ultra-light weight one plus postage. I paid $390 plus $80 postage for it through them back in 2008.

Tinky WROTE:

"What does that baby weigh Frank ?"

it drops it from about 8.5kg to about 4.5kg iirc tinky, and 3.5 is fairly easy to achieve :)

bahahaha the best news ever... My old green micra (my daily), the one that just blew its clutch, well I decided to throw an exedy oem replacement on and when I took it off... Behold there was a fully machined flywheel lookin just like frank2's...

Now swapped with the standard one on the black 3door slx I'm rebuilding :)
