Well worth seeing.Very true to original.Special affects something else but story/characters not completly overwhelmed by special affects.

2nd that. The stampead (and the T-Rex Vs Kong) was something else. Good integration between actors and the sfx which is rare,

Agree with nz_aj. If it was made by the Yanks would have been a disaster.Thank goodness Peter Jackson also directed the Lord of the Rings triology otherwise it would have been a disater.Funny having read the books many times the movie was how I imagined it in my mind ( even better)
King Kong long?? No I thought the build up was fine and its about an hour into the movie before he makes an appearance.

saw the movie it was awesome. well i loved till they left the island than it sorta went downhill. you could definately tell it was a peter jackson film., he used some of the same effects as he used i n lord of the rings. especially the slow mo bits on the skulls and action happening but no voicesonly music. was great film

"Narnia" is another movie recently released that was made in NZ. Same NZ director that did Shrek 1 & 2.

"The World's Fastest Indian" is about a NZ motorbike racer (not Britten), half filmed here, other half at Bonneyville. This has been showing in NZ & on Quantas for a while but I'm not sure if it's been released in Australia. http://www.worldsfastestindian.com/

River Queen. Probably not my taste. http://www.darkhorizons.com/2006/riverqueen.php

"The Last Samurai" was also filmed in NZ 2 years ago. http://lastsamurai.warnerbros.com/html_index.php

Other older films somebody might remember from oscars or whatever.

Also one called "Once We Were Warriors"
Very depressing in some ways but interesting insight into what I guess is how some Maoris live.
Come on aj_nz next you will be saying Russell Crowe is a Kiwi !!!

I guess you mean the Russel Crowe who was born in Wellington, cousin of the Crowe brothers who played cricket for NZ for many years. Given his recent antics, you can keep him.
Don't forget Phar Lap, the horse from Timaru.
Crowded House, a group based around the songwriting and vocal talents of New Zealand born lead singer, composer and guitarist Neil Finn.
Then there's the Pavlova arguement.
Dear one mention the rugby world cup? Not wanting to share with NZ last time & voting against us (for Japan) holding it in 2011.

Once Were Warriors & it's sequel starred Temuera Morrison. Great laugh when he turned up in the Star Wars prequels using a NZ accent.

Although I haven't yet seen King Kong I'm gonna sound like my step-mother here and wait for it to come out on DVD.

Sorry but when I saw that King Kong is fighting a friggin' t-rex I was like "oh please".

But I'm sure the movie rocks, Peter Jackson is awesome.
