new clueless driver lol

hi there, i am currently learnin to drive an ive bought myself a wee red micra, named her betsy and i love her but she needs a good bit of tlc. the wire that connects to the radiator fan has melted and i traced it back to behind the passenger light. do i need to rewire from fan to fusebox beside it or does it need to be rewired to inner fuse box. tryin to do as much as i can myself due to lack of funds lol. have a complete micra that i can use for parts cheers :)

I would just cut it back gradually until you get to good solid copper and splice the new wiring in from there - much less hassle and by no means a dodgy fix. If the wiring has melted and electrically shorted then you'll need to track down the fuse and replace it too.

thanks very much, was really confused and didn't want to make things worse, rest of electrics work just fine its just the fan. i had the immobilizer fixed as well as the key was duffed. gettin there slowly but surely lol. thanks soo much for your advice :)

probably a stupid question but.... see the leaver that opens boot/petrol tank. mine is broken would i be able to just take one off my spare micra and attach straight to old one?. sorry for all the questions lol typical blonde pmsl

When you say the lever is broken do you mean the actual lever mechanism is broken or that the lever is still in place but doesn't work?

If it is just a broken lever then yes, you can just replace it with a spare. Once you get it undone (can't remember if I had to pull out the driver's seat or not for access) it's pretty evident how it comes out. Installation is obviously just the reverse :)

If the lever is fine but the fuel/boot release aren't working then you either have an issue in the cables (broken or stretched) or in the fuel and boot release mechanisms. Unfortunately without seeing you car in person I can't perform a better diagnosis.
