Possible throttle body issue?

Tue 12 Aug 2014 10:01:26 PM
I have a 1999 K11 Micra

and over time it has developed this issue. To start it I must push the accelerator to the floor. Then the idle is also very rough and never really settles down. There is some power loss, but mostly I noticed that fuel economy is down.

I replaced the throttle body with a second hand unit before I gave it to the Brother in Law to use 10 months back. The sellar claimed it was off a working car without this issue. (who knows) anyway the issue is exactly the same. That was 10 months back.

My brother in law and he now says that after about 15 minutes on the motorway the car starts to lose power and than just stops. After letting cool down then he can carry on. Check engine light does not come on at any time.

I suppose I could try the re-solder - being experienced repair at soldering - should be okay for me to try.

Anything else I could look into? Some have said its the distributor.

I have to take this car for its annual MOT and emissions test and I have a feeling..it may fail the emissions.

Changed your fuel filter recently? Checked your plugs? How many miles? Ever had your injectors cleaned. There's plenty of things that it could be

Hello.

Fuel filter is pretty new. Plugs were checked. The car has over 100,000 miles on it.

Not sure if the injectors have ever been cleaned. But I have suspected they are either leaking or clogged.

you need to do some fault finding, and to do that you have to spend money. if your asking here, it normal means you dont have the knowledge to carry it out, so consider a mechanic, that is what they are there for after all.

however, as my man said above, check and replace all the obvious shit.

but, id be looking at your cats and 02 sensor as well man.

fuel economy down is a sign of a duff sensor, lack of power can be a collapsed cat.

also the resolder cant hurt either.

Any chance its the coolant temperature sensor. Called the dealer for that part. Temperature sensor £40 and £45 for the wiring loom!

eeek. Though I think the sensor can be had for £20ish online. The loom is only available from Nissan.

Easy enough to try I suppose. The symptoms do seem to indicate a failure of the loom and (possibly) also sensor.

Made it through emissions, only just, advisory that mixture is rich.
