so it begins/the green turd page 3.

Mon 04 Aug 2014 01:48:35 PM
so since turboing has been completed i thought i would start a new page.

with the mechanicals of the car up to scratch and how i want them, ill be concentrating on the aesthetics....never been one for stance or cars that look mental, so itll end up looking stock as shit, but hopefully cleaner!

ive fitted suzuki swift gti seats to the car, but dont have a decent pic. heres some other stuff ive done recently.

federal 595's on pulsar gtir wheels.

some goodies.

ive found a spare engine, which im rebuilding with new oem head gasket, arp studs, new timing chain kit etc etc. ill freshen everything up and wait for (itll be a long wait) this engine to blow.

however only running 10psi on e85, the engine is a lot less prone to going tits up than on 98 fuel.

BUT. the engine having clocked up 300+km im preparing for the worst. ill also be building one of the 4 (!) r33 gtr turbos i have spare, to steel wheel it. the ceramics will only take 13-14 psi.....

and how she is sitting now. ive had a few more parts turn up etc etc, but i wont get round to anything super for a while.

as for the turbo build?!?!

its running sweetly. ive dispeled alot of the shit ethanol myths already and upset quite a few bmws, wrxs, and the like.

beau can testify how stupidly quick this thing is...... any way thats all for now!

Not great lol might get 300 out of a tank? I don't let it drop below half at the mo yet. I'm using a lot more fuel obviously, because ethanol and turbo.

Re: so it begins/the green turd page 3.

Mon 18 Aug 2014 03:33:00 PM
so i got a day in the garage yesterday got a few things sorted.

took out the hks and ohlins shocks for something a bit more back friendly...... its a 20 min change for track duty, so im not fussed.

fitted the nismo rear sway bar i got from a facebook group member, im sure your on here but i dont know your user name!

new rear sway bar links, and a whiteline traction kit. its thrown the allignment out ever so slightly, even tho i marked it up and tried to get it back spot on...

had some brake issues, but that should be sorted come wednesday.... its currently sat in the garage awaiting front qfm a1rms for the n14sss brakes it has. not gtir. again, thanks to jase at garage 9 for the brake gear.

even drove 1.5 hours round to me on the east side to drop of an n13 lsd and shafts. top bloke as i said, and hes gonna thro up some brake specials on our little facebook page.

new parts to arrive this week are 2 more 33 gtr turbos... 2 x steel wheel and 360 degree bearing kits. 1 x nssan head gasket 1x arp head stud kit. (now to figure out if i tighten these the same as oem)

so as it is, shes gonna be hitting the track pretty hard come the summer.

especially the drag stip with the bmw bottlecap wheels and bf goodrich 225 45 14 drag radials i have for it. hahahahahahahahahahahahah!

alright so ive been pushed by the car to do the minor top end rebuild.

the gasket has almost gone, so ive grounded the car and will pull it apart on friday night.

this will give me a chance to knock up a much better and lighter dump pipe thru scottys customs.

then i can wrap everything, rebuild one of my 4 turbos, install new head gasket and arp studs.

if only i could get my hand on a bottom chain tensioner, it would be as good as new!

so i wrinkle painted the plastic rocker cover. came up really well. looks less tacky than the red monstorsity that was on before.

for sale for 30 bucks by the way, lol.

and also wrapped my manifold and r34 stainless dump pipe. ive saved about 3kg in weight using a stainless pipe instead of the cast 33.

i rebuilt a turbo also steel wheel on the exhaust side now, those of you who have gtr experience know why.

dropping the head off wednesday night to be crack tested, cleaned and decked.

then its time to put her back together.

The rocker cover looks great! I did mine the same. Leftovers from doing my 260Z rocker cover so it kinda cost me nothing and looks great.

If you wet the wrap before you put it on you can get it tighter and neater... also stops the airborne particles which are really bad for you.

I haven't gtr experience but have a steel wheeled vg30 turbo on my HR31... I understand why! How much does it cost to get it balanced after a rebuild?

Bed armor from duplicolor is also good for that effect plus it has teflon in it so its a bit harder wearing. its meant to be a spray on ute liner. Painted my old 250 ninja with it. Looks pretty decent

yea the wrap is as good as its getting unfortunately.... the tight inner bends on the manifold and dump mean i cant get much better!!!

that and the fact i was about 6 feet short..... lol

yea i love that paint. my previous alloy cover was red, which looked tacky in my opinion, but the black is much better...

side note guys, the ebay global shipping program is dog wank.

its taken 17 days for my studs to get to sydney. just been told startrack will deliver them friday. i wont be there, so prob wont get it done in time.

i have to pray they try to deliver thursday... that way, i can get them friday.

Damn those tight curves 😋 they do make it hard to keep an even wrap.

I am not a fan of the red either, it does look tacky. The black is nice.

What tyres did you go with?, I got 14 pulsar wheels myself, still debating what tyre size to go with.

okay so it took me a week of fucking around.

but it runs.

aparently all the bolts and shit where the only thing holding certain parts together!

2 dizzys later (the one i have on is literally running on one tooth as the other snapped!) and a throttle body resolder (even ga15 bodies dry joint!)

and it lives.

used my nistune software to set the timing. but ill double check that with a timing light once i replace the dizzy again.

so time to put her back together, road test and then take for a retune!

200kw then a wind back and max response tune. really gonna dump the timing in to get the most out of the ethanol.
