i dont know if someone has already asked this but does anyone know how hard it is to smooth the boot?any major difficulties?

I've seen pre-made smoothed hatches for sale in Japan.

Its semi-common there. Someone makes them.
You occasionally see some on http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp
