Re: so it begins page 2..... so it continues.

Fri 10 Jan 2014 12:56:35 PM

so ive started a new page. last one got a little long....

right developments are, my 15's are too big for rwc (duh) but the stockies i have dont clear the poosar brakes.

need to find cheap 14's. and i mean nearly free.

finished off the matiz/corsa setup, however front is creaking when i turn the wheel, so ill strip the front end down again and see what other parts i can put in there at the top.

shes basically good to go for rwc, i think... i have a few things to hook back up (like brakes, airbox)but once the 14's are ready ill get it booked in, passed then rego'd!

on turbo build notes, ive picked up an sr20 fuel rail and some free injectors, when they turn up ill figure out what flow they have. getting standard r33 gtr dump pipes sent to me, so i can use one of them to save costs on a custom dump.

plans are still to run gtr fuel pump, 370cc injectors and tune on e85 for 10psi. this should help with high compression and det.

body news, removed the side bumper strips the other day. caramel wheel is the only way to get all that nasty double sided tape off! however, ive decided with tthe shit condition of the green paint, and the fact its green, im gonna do a gloss white respray. im decent at spraying, having done a mini and some skyline parts, but im going to try and do a better job this time round!

stay tuned, and ill get back to you with some pictures!

so after a month of procrastinating i got the car ready and rwc'd on staurday.

she failed.

he couldnt get the drum brakes off the rear (i belive this is because he doesnt know about the handbrake release lever)

he then just picked on stupid shit. the windscreen was dirty, the headlight indicators arent orange enough, the windscreen washers needed aiming, the rear wiper was 2 cm too long, i didnt have the centres on the alloy wheels.

what a complete tosser. anyway, ill get all that addressed and in again on saturday. nop doubt for him to fail it on something else.

Great work. But what a tosser the road worthy guy was. Are these things unsafe, no. Be positive as this shows your car is fine, just that guy had sand in his vagina that day.

Hope you have better luck next time.

cheers mate, i text my old man after dropping it to the rwc guy, i said, its gonna fail the guy was a right prick.

sure enough....... once im out of the woods ill be letting people know who it was.

it just annoys me that hardly anyof these things a safety/roadworthy issue.

Yep couldent agree with you more. In sa the police patrol whats road worthy and not. So most people are able to drive around in dodgy unsafe cars. But if you get defected they can be so picky with getting it passed. wtf.

Mon 24 Mar 2014 09:04:47 AM
okay......

so after taking to my rear drums with an angle grinder to remove the lip that was hoilding them on, ridiculously tightly, i did not hold out much hope that it would pass.

when i got to the garage, he said, thanks for that the drums where fine, but bloody hell its stiff in the arse end....

then passed it.

you f*c*ing dancer! i actually had a little happy dance right there in the office......

so now to register it...

then its mod time.......

this means ill also be looking for the next parts in turbo build, super s clocks, etc.

and i refuse to pay 200 or even 150 for a 20 year old piece of plastic that in my opinion looks a bit meh, for cup holders. so stay tuned for some sort of fibreglass cup holder/ipad holder fancy thingo.

with the football (soccer) season starting i dont have much time to work on it as i would like, but ill get there eventually.....

next up, fit the coilovers, jun fly and clutch i got from dan, respray at easter, and some sway bars if i can find some second hand that arent going for drug money......

All rego'd today. Went well.

Car has a bit of road noise, but after my car history it's bound to be a bit basic.

Tomorro night coil overs fitted. Then I need some music, then jun fly wheel an hd clutch on Sunday.

Lots more parts to come, and unlike some on the site, I will pass on anything I don't use.

Sway bars needed now, control arm, rear lower and upper strut braces too....

and here we go.

regod, fitted with ohlins rear shocks, tein springs all round, and hks front coilovers.

thanks dan and the hundreds of people who owned them before! would like the back to be alittle lower, but im not cutting the tein springs.

so ill be fitting my blacked out head lights and clear indicators soon.
also got jun fly and hd clutch to install, jdm rear lights, and the respray (fingers crossed) at easter.

those wheels are growing on me, so i might get some more spacers to push em out abit. and give em a paint up.

parts list wanted.........

cup holders (maybe) might build my own.
tacho dash needs to know my revs!
super s door cards.
some sort of bucket seat.
sway bars.
bracing. any and all of it!
and some freaking sounds. 2 speakers is not enough!

Okay small update.....

Had a cat back built by my mate.... Small sound increase, small midrange increase.

Also bought a wrx, so having second thoughts about the micra. In fact if some one offered me 2k for it with all the turbo parts etc I'd prob take it.

Anyway seeing as nobody will do that, scored some 33 gtr oem dumps, as soon as this rain fucks off ill strip the front down and test fit it all.

Have to move in 2 weeks and with the wrx needing a bit of love, the micra shall remain daily material....

To be continued...... Or not.

so picked up the wrx. fettled with it a little. wife told me off. so back to the micra.

installed the oil filter relocator and oil cooler i got from mick b.

now it was for an sr20 (im guessing) so the attachement where the filter would normally be was way too big. had to machine (read angle grind the shit out of it) to get it small enough to attach to the block.

anyway managed to get it there, and get it all installed, however i have misplaced my 25 mm spanner, so i need to nip it all up tonight before filling it with oil. christ knows how much its gonna take now but im guessing around 6-7 litres. will pop the usual amount in, run it for 2 mins. stop check and top up. see how we go until i can get it to the full mark on the dipper!

also the emanage is in. no issues there, cut a small hole in the glove box to accomadate the n-8 direct plug and play harness. so i have a spare universal harness if anyone wants it. 50 baht??

waiting on oil and water lines/drains turning up from overseas then i can run the water lines from the ga15 throttle body.

so close i can feel the boost.

but if you look closely i can tilt/remove the filter housing and drain from the end of the cooler pipe hose.

Toyota 4agze injectors are 365cc low impedance, top feed. They are a potential upgrade for nissan L28 so may fit into the rail.

brilliant, ill have a look around see what happens.

right emanage issue.

car is turning over but not firing. strange. hope its not a dud.

so removed the harness and plugged original loom in.....

turned car on, ran fine. turned it off to check the oil level.......................... it didnt turn off. i removed the key, the engine kept running!

i disconnected the battery (n a bit of a panic) obviously this didnt kill it.

i had to whip the loom out of the ecu to stop it......

fucking thing. any ideas why it would do this guys!? i mean i turned it over a few times with the emanage in, but that shouldnt have caused it.

ooooooooooooh so close.

decided on custom manifold due to space and using an xr6 cooler. managed to get post of it finished last night, just have to join cylinder 1 and 2 to the collector. should take an hour.

but as of now the turbo is mounted. ive used one of the oem dumps from the 33gtr donor car, and this pretty much lines up with the standard path of the exhaust. so should be a 1m 2.5 inch pipe the connect to the cat.

next will be cooler piping which should be easy enough. only issue is finding a flat pod filter!!!!!!!!!!!

more updates thursday. shes coming along.

anyone reading this, im thinking if i hold the wastegate permantently open i shouldnt generate more than 1-2 pounds of boost, which will give me some drive ability for a while.... concur?!

it does actually work platsy :) but the w/g port and puck would get too hot if you ragged it tho.
i usually set about 3mm/half a hole of preload on the rod, and i just tried it with 3mm of negative preload (w/g held open about 3mm)
and it would only muster 2 or 3 psi at full chat

dunno :) just the usual brakepipe size one mate, the banjo bolts are usually parallel thread, so the tapered head thread tends to tighten up at about 10mm inside (hence the 2 extra copper washers fitted) or else cut the bolt to suit eh

fit fuel pump (if i can ever get the pump access door frigging open!)

Which one or do you need both? Actually guessing you need the 2nd one if you have a turbo. Got one but it's in northern NSW, postage shouldn't be too much though.

Re: so it begins page 2..... so it continues.

weekend update!

again. no pictures.

i promise ill get some when i tear it down to heat wrap it and shiz.

a stock r34/33 cat bolted straight up to the micra, quietened it a bit but not by much, slowed the flow down big time tho. with the wastegate flap open its makes almost 3 psi eeeek. will have to be careful taking it to the tuner next friday.

took the gear box out, replaced the flogged stock clutch with an exedy/datrats hd one. also the jun flywheel went in there too. engine revs so much quicker now....

we managed to tear down the fuel rail and throttle body also, made up the tops feed rail with the spacers and adapters to bolt it straight in. however the iac valve has had to be removed from the throttle body to allow it to fit. as soon as i get a chance i will head back round and finish it off.

last few things i need are an sr20 actuator, aparrently they bolt straight up to the gtr turbo. and some sort of boost controller.

got a big bag of pumps given to me. gtr, 044, gtst, s15's etc will have a go thru them and pick the most suitable to fit. then i will the pass the rest on to other people in need of an upgrade!

currently waiting on the nistune back from dmd/nistune. they have added the ga15 throttle body, 370 injectors very nice of them to do so.

anyone like to make a prediction on the fwkw? also the tuner is going to video the dyno run.

I think so. Have a lot more in it. But the hg is a little old. So need to research.

Thing is a bitch to drive.

But freaking brutal when it's got traction!

Lots of work todo to make it drive able now.

That is freakin awsome, sounds great on the dyno and would be a hand full. 170kw whats that like around 250 engine hp from the factory 90hp.

Think factory wheel is 50hp. Around about.... 55 or something. With out the turbo hooked up my homemade system made 81 kW at the wheels natro.

No the turbo would have been a restriction too lol.

well done dude..but i'm having a hard time believing that 169kw figure - unless u have some awesome gear installed that u've not alluded to or mentioned here, i can't see the mods supporting that power output..

If you have reached that power level using second hand parts and only what's listed on here and fbook; I'm bloody impressed and have clearly gone the wrong way spending 20k+ for the same power expectations.

think we need to take this power level with a grain of salt Pierce... as it was pointed out to me, i'd be interested to see the result on a dyno dynamics setup

Ahhh the old dyno dynamics convo.

Ethanol is a great and wonderful beast is all I will say.

Once I change the studs and gasket, and get the time to rebuild my spare turbo ill get it on a hub dyno.

But yea it is what it is. Belive me I've built cars 5 times more powerful than this and it's just mental. I need some traction.

whatever helps u sleep @ night champ... e85 may be a "great & wonderful beast", but my car was tuned with C16, so explain to me how your dyno figure is greater than the blue monster, jcmicra's car and my shitbox - compare these cars & their levels of modification to yours and maintain with a straight face that ur car's power output surpasses these.. that video looks more like advertising than an actual dyno run... my car would go 500bhp on that dyno i suspect!?!

A simple calculation based on the 370cc/min injectors specified, together with the use of E85, show those figures are significantly inflated for WHP numbers.

However, regardless of numbers, if you're happy then that's cool :)

No nos required, I made all the parts myself and can attest to it's flow. It's only on 10psi, plenty more in this build...

Get that MLS gasket and ARP's mate, you can show these guys what e85 can really do. Should have an easy 200kw in it with the steel wheels, no matter the dyno.

Sounds like someone's a bit jelly. Bring it down, I will sort you out with some decent parts. :p

Seriously, I think you doubt the benefits of e85. There is a reason most turbo race cars are switching from C16. I have been pushing standard pump e85 for 5 years now, funny how few believed me then, but oh how things have changed. Get with the times or get left behind.
