Tassie would be like say the Isle of Man to England only a lot bigger.
A lot of jokes about how backward we all are on the island as most of the people here are desendants from convicts sent out from good old mother England.
Not many new arrivals and population remains static as young people go to the mainland looking for better jobs.
But we have great scenery, and fantastic roads with stuff all traffic and tourists say it looks like the English country side.
Great food, fresh unpolluted air,and a Micra paradise.
Oh just under 500,000 people and its about the size of Wales.( but they say very hard to count people down here as most have 2 heads)

A lot of dual lane highways with stuff all traffic but best part are all the secondary roads which you have to yourself.
Cops are always on the main highways, well 99% of the time. Just have to watch speeds going thtough towns.
Shite if they target the secondary roads I will be in big trouble.

Be careful driving around Tassie in the winter, specially if there's fog, Taswegians aren't too keen on putting their parkers on which makes it difficult to see them in a pea souper, otherwise totally brilliant roads to drive on, loved the drive from Launceston to Devonport, micra loved zooming the dual highways with not a copper in sight. (I think they were busy at the local Donut King :P)

Late October is a good time. Also the ferry is not very busy so plenty of room availabable.

Dave I just drove the TR up to Port Augusta last week.

Yes if you come off season ferry prices are a lot cheaper.
Sighh Mychael that would have been a great trip. Hood down, sniffing the breeze. Something about open sports cars. Always feel closer to everything. The car, what is going on outside etc. Seems to sharpen up all your senses.
Must have been a MG car club meet down here recently. About 12 of em parked at the Golden Arch one morning. Not so many MGB's but more TC, TD and TFs.
