Squeaking

Fri 05 Jul 2013 04:35:11 PM
Now its summer and I have the windows open I noticed my old girl is squeaking. It seems to be coming from the front near side wheel and doesn’t stop if I switch the engine off. It sounds like the noise hot rubber makes when it rubs against other rubber. It had new wheel bearings last summer so it shouldn’t be those, it doesn’t sound like rubbing brake pads also there is no pull when braking indication a sticky calliper. There is nothing touching the tyre, which is what it sounds like.

Has anyone had anything similar? Any ideas?

Thanks

Maybe gearbox mount or rear engine mount ? Sway bar bushes ? Lower ball joint ?

What would be the symptoms of Sway bar bushes or Lower ball joint worn?

it may be worth just having a pull on the front disc shround to re tension it , it can amplify any noise going .
may be worth just cleaning up the brake pads so they float in the caliper , one of mine used to humm and swish at low speeds ..

Sqeaking and creaking, play and steering wheel turned when jacked up and the noise may lessen.
