Reverse gearbox output?

Wed 14 Nov 2012 08:51:43 AM
Hi everyone, its been many years since i last posted here. I dont have a micra anymore, but every time i see one i wish i did!

I do have a small car though, which is a bit of a "micro micra", a Fiat 126 /FSM Niki.

Ive been working on it for a few years, my budget, time and occasionally my motivation has been limited, so its been slow going with not a huge amount of work done.

Down the track i would love to extract some power out of it, but i would rather spend my money custom fitting a different engine, than trying to extract anything more from the original 2cyl 650cc :-)

Having owned a micra, my thoughts are to fit a cg13 in it, but there is a good chance it may have to be mounted in reverse. So my question for you guys is..

Can the output from the gearbox be reversed? I know some RWD diffs allow you to simply reverse the mounting of the crown wheel to the opposite side, but im not too familar with the internals of a FWD gearbox, so i dont know if its a possibility.

Any help would be great, Cheers.
