pretty good if you have the extra greens to spend on something that controls boost..

and it looks pretty.

yea, sorry the avc-d is the old model, the avc-r is the new cool one.

iv got an s-afc and it looks rather cool and im thinking a matching avc-r (they look identical) would not only give me serious performance gains, but look sweeter than dennise richards dipped in honey.

will it improve my performance though, that is the question.

Yes it will...

Any EBC will show a much greater improvement in both spooling and maintaining boost. You'll be impressed with the AVC-R, although it is nice and expensive.
