probably not helpful but are you sure it's not your muffler rattling at all, those things get loose and lose stuff holding them tight over the years, always sounded to me like the boot hatch..

Otherwise how does it rattle, shouldn't the rubber seal for water prevent it from rattling?

EDIT: oh wait a sec, have you had a look at the panel on the interior that covers the top latch area and wiring? also check the brake light, its plastic but can be poorly fit against the rear windscreen.

hope something here helps ;)

ill check the muffler but im 99% sure its the hatch.... i pulled the panel off the back of the hatch cause i thought it was the problem but its not ... i took the brake light out as the case was all cracked and it was annoying at night

thanks for your input

check the latch,
the internal metal skin,
brake light at the window/mounting point,
check your number plate screws are tight,
check rubber stopper on the frame/hatch interface are still there,

if all else fails turn up your radio....

unscrew the 2 lower rubber stops to protrude out abit till it applies tension against the latch so prevents it rattling freely about

Just a thought.... My rattle ended up being my rear wiper motor which practically came apart due to too much bass from the sub... Lol... Replaced motor and rattle now gone...

Could be your drop links on rear stabilizer.
I had similar problem rattling noise, I thought it was tailgate rattle.
Check your drop links both sides rear.

Hi all!
i replaced my hatch a while back but when i finally got around to re-installing the hatch brake light, i realized it was not as straightforward as i thought.

can anyone fill me in with or w/o pictures of ur existing hatch brake light? i might be missing a mounting bracket or something...?

thx in advance!

update:
after googling ard i found that not all k11's had the hatch brake light, and it so happens that when i replaced mine at a local scrapyard, i didn't pay attention to that detail :(

so, while simply drilling the necessary holes to mount the light is a simple job, i'm now wondering if there's any difference in the mould of the hatch between the ones with and w/o the brake light. Like, would there be a sunken area where the light would fit?

cheers!
