my sister has fallen in love with a micra thats for sale at the gold coast.

She is working full time over the holidays and if it's still there in 2 weeks she is going to go and have a look at it I think :)

I would also get the RACQ to do a check. Might cost say $150 but cheap insurnace if you are going to spend thousands.
Your call but if you want to take the plunge get Matty to have a look and if he is happy get the RACQ to do a full inspection.That way you will sleep a lot easier.

My Micra has been sold... and not to me. I rang the guy yesterday coz I was going to have a look today and he told me he had already sold it. How sad!

Looks like I’m back to where I started. I’m looking for an automatic SLX, around the $6000 price range, and in the Brissie/Gold Coast area. If anyone finds something that kinda fits that profile please let me know!

Hi Razz, why automatic??
Its your call but when they need repair very expensive compared say to a manual.

Low KM jap CVT boxes arent too expensive.


I would personally look for a manual as well, but dare i suggest Razz has an auto license.

Because I'm shit at driving manuals

MMM Stall kit in a CVT gearbox with 15psi running through it.

...that electric blue paint is v nice. the auto's are kewl, my dad has one (on his second one, first one was written off by a truck tyre) my first time driving one - it was different, but nice different :P. very smooth to drive esp with the power steering - kept going to push in the clutch whenever the revs got up..heh tehy sound abit like um say an electric car, can't say i've ever been in an electric car but they made this 50% spaceship, 50%electric hummm noise :D. fyi he hasn't any any problems with the transmission, but if you do its usually the kickdown cable, which i think causes it to get stuck in low gear??? = cheap fix and if anthing else goes wrong get another gearbox from a wrecker - their far too costly to fix,

hmmm always wondered what the cvt could handle as a daily driver, esp one of those 4wd 6spd cvt micras that are japan only, transplant the engine and drivetrain into mine please...:D

Hey and did you know that "lil birdy" are playing at the Tivili soon, friday 19th August. Just thought i'd let ya know.

Be very careful with cvt model micras, have it checked out by an auto specialist. They are well know for playing up and if its needs to be repair (i.e usually bearings) of the six bearings only two are made after market and the others nissan dosen't keep. Owe and a new box cost around $6000.
They are expensive to service aswell. They also don't handle increased horse power very well, bear this in mind if you plan to modify the engine.
I don't want to scare you off a cvt, but I have had a few apart & if you could see what was inside you would understand the problems you can encounter

I'm going to have a look at the car tomorrow around 9am. I'm taking my crew of car experts; Em, Matty and Keiran.
I don't know what to expect. I'm excited tho, kinda scared. YAY!I might find my car tomorrow =]

Snoopy brings up alot of good points. There's alot of stuff which can go bang in the CVT transmissions.


Ideally I think a manual is a better long term option than ANY auto, but thats just me.


I think if the CVT isnt loud and doesnt make bad noise, is smooth and has been looked after it is still a pretty solid power tranfer device.


Just keep in mind that you can get second hand CVT gearboxes with apparently low KM imported on the cheap. Same with the motors. Half the time it is easier to just risk buying a secon dhand import motor/gearbox in the hope that it will have less problems than your existing unit...
