still cv joint

Sat 13 Feb 2010 10:08:38 AM
I saw many topics covering the CV joint replacement but in none of them I'm reading my difficulties.
I would like you have a look on my picture
As you notice there is a cyrclip ... I'm trying to enlarge it and at the same time try to pull the joint, but it wont move at all!
Moreover I have the impression that the cyrclip does not stop the joint to move outwards (in the direction of the wheel I mean)
I shall I proceed?

you just snatch it off neuronet, a sharp tap with a copper hammer, or i usually clamp the shaft and knock the shaft inwards (then undo the hubnut)

frank2 it's exactly as you told me!
somehow I managed to fix the axis with the car and a single hammer hit was enough to extract the joint! It was really useless any attempt I did before trying to hammer with one hand and keep the axis fixed with the second hand.

the pic shows what I used to fix the axis with the car

many many thanks!!!

dont worry Lodo, I feel your pain! Sometimes they come off easy, and sometimes its a massive pain, however Franks tip is much better then the Haynes method :)
