Nissan BE-1 Suspension options

Thu 03 Jul 2008 07:58:30 PM
Hi Guys. I've got a 1987 Nissan BE-1. I've squeezed 18's on it but want to lower it. I have no idea where to start looking for suspension or if the BE has the same suspension as any of the newer micras. If someone can give me some advice that would be super awesome!

thats awesome! where'd you get that thing from??

doubt the BE has the same suspension as our k11 models if its based on the K10, as we never got K10's here

you may get lucky with k10 march front cuts but even that a long shot at a 20 year old car

best bet might be to jump on the UK forums, cool as your car is, i think getting parts would be an absolute nightmare, one of the main reasons i haven't gone for a K10 superturbo..

post some pics up of your car! love to know where/how you got it etc

Actually made me think of the PAO K10... It might be worth looking up to see if cusco make or made coilovers for the K10. They do for the K11 but it's worth a look.

I don't know which one the PAO has but here it is anyhow (scroll down to see the coilovers):

http://www.kustom-pao.com/body/body.htm

The PAO was mentioned in a thread a while back, here. Your best bet for aftermarket gear is Yahoo Japan.

Edit: Oh, and this is just my personal opinion, but anything over 15" wheels is too big for a K10/K11. Small diameter but wider wheels are the way to go ;)

You mean 16's, right? I like 15's solely because tyre choice is opened up so much more compared to 14's and they do fit the huge brakes (for a micra) under them for the most part, but if I could i'd stick with 14's and have infinite tyre choice I would.

no.. i mean 14's look gay.. the tyre side walls make it look 4wd spec. 15's are ohhk.. didn't think 14's had that much choice in tyres..

Yeah on the BE though 15's look too small (will post pics with 15's and with 18's) the wheel arches on them are huge! The 18's fill it out nicley. Only prob is 7.5" wide wheels rub on the torsion? bars at the rear. Might need a slight mod to ge them to fit nicley. I'll up some pics of the be with 18's tomorrow - for some reason I dont have pics of it and it's too dark to take them now. Also on the BE with 1 ltr motor you don't really notice any decrease in performance when running bigger wheels ;) haha

I got the BE in Brisbane from an importer. Just happened to find it when I was shopping for my S2 Stagea. It's very straight, with a few bits of rust starting to bubble the paint around the doors. The plan is to respray it shortly before the rust makes itself at home. Apart from the wheels the car is standard. I rebuilt the motor after buying the car though, just so I know where I stand with everything. I also have a stereo running 1000w RMS totoal which is just over kill I know, but is from my previous car. Tis good fun and get heaps of looks in it because of the wheels and the stupid browinsh yellowish vomitish colour. People love it :D

Thanks for everyone's help with the suspension info. I think the gear box is the same as the escargo. Well the auto box is anyway. Really bad gear ratios.

Will up pics for everyone for the weekend.
Thanks again.

Ben

Not sure about the rear. Not the smartest when it comes to this sort of thing. Was thinking of just getting it bagged. Would prob be same sort of money and save alot of hassle.

I'd love to put the super turbo motor in it, but it would prob cost more to do that then the car is worth. Plus I sorta like that it's gutless. Funny as hell when reving to redline and its going nowhere :D

yeh, the rears are coilover (i,ve long been tempted to fit a k10 axle in mine).
just match your rear spring with a lowered one, and fit lowered k11 fronts eh
