	y would u want a 540 with the petrol prices these days??? the 528 has plenty of power and is really economical i got a bees dick under 1000kms on the highway with just under a full tank and plus that is nz all cars are alot cheaper there!

	Because a 540 uses less gas & has more power... Yes cars in NZ are typically cheaper than Australia but until now I've never seen an example where it's by more than double. People pay a premium here for BMW, I guess it's even more in Australia? Struggling to believe a 528 could travel 1000km on it's 70L fuel tank. Thats 7L/100km = 14.3km/L = 40.4mpg It weighs 1570kg unloaded, powered by a 2.8L straight 6. A 540 doesn't weigh much more than the 528 and it's official fuel economy figures are 9% better. Engine in 528 has 193ps (142kW) & 540 has 286ps (210kW). My best mans wife describes their 540 as having "balls" & both their 528's as "slugs". Personally I wouldn't want to own a BMW: -it would get keyed -it would get kicked, spat on, urinated on & dented When compared with Toyota/Nissan -parts & servicing are far more expensive here -new suspension bushes & disc rotors every 40,000km is a pain -insurance is far more expensive -the whole car is more expensive
