sits between the head & the block. They are a cheap way to drop the compression ratio to a boost friendly level. If its a good idea or not will depend on who you ask.
In my opinion its ok in cheap lower boost applications (i.e 7-12psi). However it is a cheap way to do it. The proper way to do it is to fit low comp pistons. |

g'day gang.i'm the guy selling this bunch of guff.i wasn't going to post anything here, but as it's come up,i may as well.
i bought this stuff 'cause i love nissan stuff. yeah. i'm also selling a datsun super six and an r31 on ebay as well. i've got a combi with a turbo nissan diesel, a landrover with a nissan diesel, an escort with a ca18-det and i bought my girl the micra. i love my nissan stuff! so; 1:micra king.i fully understand your point of view, especially being in perth,as you cannot eyeball the thing in question,i don't like buying things of this value, without having a squiz first.next time your at scarbs, rock into the beach near bianci's at the clock tower and get the vessle crossed up round the roundabout for me...many fond memories.cheers bloke. 2:anyone buying such a thing would surely have to be reading this site, otherwise they'd be a bufoon! smidge is spot on {sorry for out bidding you there fella, it was all in the name of the nissan though}but the reason i stated is 100%.she simply doesn't dig it.she likes her stocker.the guy i got it from is really helpfull in everything i've asked him,the manifold is not the prettiest i've seen, but is very solid looking, and is as yet not fitted with it's flange.the flange itself needs to be filled and redrilled to match the bolt pattern of the turbo{no biggy} and then needs to be welded to the manifold, which obviously needs a hole to be made so the exhaust comes out somewhere. 3:snoopy knows the time. this is without a doubt not the greatest way to drop the comp,it is a compromise.having read the forced micra forums,it seems to me if you don't ask the world of a micra with a fan and standard comp, reasonable gains can be made.reasonable being the key word here.this setup is not going to propell the mighty racing micra to 12 second quarters every day for ever and ever amen.14's perhaps!!!!!! this is,in my own experience, true of most things in the house of nissan including z18's ca18's rb 30's and the venerable l series.in most of the experiences i've had with standard nissan bottom ends and standard management, you simply hit the wall of diminishing returns.you can keep screwing boost into a thing, but if the static comps too high and you can't adjust the duty cycle or ignition timing you just break stuff.i think that most of the guys that have played will agree that nissan stuff seems a little stronger than most though. L20 with a t4 and standard comp:blown head gasket. z-18 et15psi :blown head gasket.{managed to hose my mates 302 cortina though, hahahahaha, worth every minute} rb-30 e natural with t3 and cooler 13 psi:broken ring land ca-18 det very forgiving motor made 162 rear wheel kilowatts on the nizpro dyno before problems, bog stock, management and turbo with a front mount. i do so enjoy banging my head against the wall, after all you never know if you never go! you guys seen running on empty????? speed just a question of money, how fast do you wanna go????? one of my flatmates gramps hit me with the best one though, "quality is remembered long after price is forgotten". so if you guys have anything you want to know ,i'm home after 6 most nights 03 9544 2221.i don't do bullshit,it wastes everyones time, call me and we'll yak nissan.or bennyspoon@hotmail.com or if your after a giggle check this weirdness out. hope this works, much better with greasy things heregoes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Y_FW2Ij9g spoon...out. |

its suited to someone who has the skills to finish fabricating the manifold or you'll need to pay someone to do it
you'll also need management and piping and all the rest, it will save you some time and money from doing the entire kit yourself but its definately not a 'complete' turbo kit |
