What to do when your CAS sensor in the distributor fails...

Wed 07 Nov 2007 08:52:45 PM
Well folks. Shit happened and I have a new dizzy on the way from Melbourne but here's what I've done in the meantime so I can keep on driving.

Basically the CAS heats up and stops sending signal. Leave it a few minutes and it will cool down. So my solution was to pour water over it and then jump back in and get going again.

But this was not good for city traffic.

So I hooked up the windscreen water sprayer pipe to dump water over the dizzy! So now when i rock up to the lights I can quirt it with water to keep it cool (it was only stalling on me when going slow in traffic or at lights, when moving it seemed to be fine and not getting too hot).

Here are some pics:

Hehe. Damn I'm good. ;)

HAHAHAHA nice work yom... yeh the windscreen wiper jets are awesome!! used to have an old daihatsu mira!! great little battler(smaller than a micra).. bought it for $200. used to be red but me n campbell n another mate painted it AE86 jap spec with cans from bunnings and made a radiator jet fron the wiper jets hahah it worked a treat (cos the radiator was fucked n probably blocked). the wind chill factor on the radiator almost cooled the car below working temp haha

thinking of making one on the micra however mine doesnt ever heat up past 3/4 of the temp guage.. so its probably not needed

heres a pic, notice the HKS stencil i made and sprayed onto the "intercooler" haha.... we decided to try turn the wheels inside out to give the car a wider stance... didnt work too well hahah
