new info on the main page

is it possible to update the info on the home page. I enjoyed reading about cisco's trip to japan but that was nearly 3 years ago..... maybe pple can post in a photo shoot and write up of what they've done and change it every quarter or month?

wow.... i was looking at it last night thinking the exact same thing............ and also the multimedia section!!! its in need of some new vids... maybe if its possible to open it so that everyone can post their own vids!!! im keen to see some micra track action!

Converting a proprietary system like this (it is, right?) to something like phpBB would be an utter nightmare. Were you volunteering? :P

seen it done before on a gemini forum, its all PHP based so its a matter of adjusting the tables

a modern forum layout/engine would encourage more people to use/join/come back

cisco is the php master...if he wanted to port it over he could do it piece of piss..i mean he built this forum from the ground up :)

however its good to have total control of everything on the forum so we can basically do whatever we like...

that said since its getting less maintained now something a little more 'typical' forum like wouldn't be bad.

I know it's just tables - but there's certain stuff which wouldn't be carried over unless you had phpBB mods to accomodate. Not impossible, but you'd want to be sure about making the move.

Something like vBulletin or Invision would be nice, but for a free alternative, phpBB is by a long shot the better choice for freeware/open source BB software. I couldn't ever justify paying a yearly fee for a vBulletin licence or whichever.
