K-12 only available as auto in Oz |
Thu 28 Jun 2007 07:53:05 PM |
I read today in Wheels (or Motor) that when the K 12 finally arrives at the end of the year it will only be available as an auto (non CVT). This seems to be aridiculous move by Nissan to me as they are already excluding a massive slice of the small car market. Mitsubishi recently made the same mistake when the new Colt was initially broght out as an auto. After a while they saw how poor sales were and expanded the range. I also read that the auto Micra is quoted as as "achieving 100km/h in around 15 seconds". Thats getting close to my Datto 120Y's time!

I don't think there actually is a manual version anywhere.
All the ones I saw in NZ were auto's. Mychael |

yep the K12 is being sourced from Japan now. 5spd Manuals do exist but rare as hens teeth.

NZ contiunues to have & has always had 5spd manual K12.
http://www.nissan.co.nz/vehicles/micra/?PHPSESSID=162ce74ff451be95db8953c2674a2cbd It is the same car offered in Japan. http://catalogue.carview.co.jp/NISSAN/MARCH/latest/overview.asp http://www2.nissan.co.jp/MARCH/K12/0706/index.html 0-100km/hr, 5spd man (4spd auto) 1.2L 13.5s (17.9s) 1.4L 11.9s (15.0s) 1.6L 9.8s 1.5L turbo diesel 11.9s http://www.nissan.co.uk/NMGB/en_GB/site-media/vehicles/passenger/K12/grades-and-specs/specs.pdf There are plenty of manual versions in various markets. There is no reason why nissan australia couldn't offer them. Looks like all the models in South Africa are manual 5spd 1.4L http://www.nissan.co.za/vehicles_micra_specs.asp?n=3 |

Well I sure won't be a customer if its only in auto. Massive mistake by Nissan.
Anyone aware of "mods" occuring to the K12 yet? Any after market bolt on goodies etc? |

If you mean e-4wd, K12 is still available in japan with it (along with Cube, Tiida, Note, Wingroad, Bluebird Sylphy).
http://catalogue.carview.co.jp/spec/NISSAN/MARCH/latest/33290/ http://www2.nissan.co.jp/MARCH/K12/0706/index.html There are three spec evels all powered by CR14DE The electric motor and its sensors add merely 80kg to the car's overall weight (up from 950 to 1,030kg). http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/ENVIRONMENT/CAR/FUEL_COST/TECHNOLOGY/E4WD/index.html |

picture of electric motor & drive shafts
Wonder how many kW the electric motor is good for? Could rip out the petrol motor & replace with half a dozen batteries. Make a cheap electric car for commuting to work. |
