Hey great find.
Its a cool site with some great info and pics/ideas. Hmm WEST Japanese March club! For all the Hiroshima guys etc. Looks like they are meeting in September. They are a whole different bunch to the Tokyo/East coast guys I hung out with. Wouldn't mind trying to hook up with these guys next year in March when I go back. |

No its not for looks actually!!
Its called chassis/seam riveting. Its a cheaper way to stiffen the car. Similar but less effective to seam welding. Sean |

Bahaha yeh using rivets to stiffen things up is pretty silly because the soft metal rivets are typically made from just strech and allow now weakened pressings to seperate!!!
TO get the full effect of that i think he'd have to be using some aircraft grade rivets. |

1 x aluminium rivet = .001kg....

Really good till/if the time ever comes and he wants to do body repairs.
Actually aircraft rivets are aluminium as you cannot use steel 'cos it causes corrosion. There was a type called a 'monel' but I cannot recall it's specifications anymore. Mychael |

i remeber seeing this a few years ago. total respect. is the section still in it where he describes his mistake of rivetting through all the electrics underneath the rear panels and destroying them? lol.
