"new" intercooler

Wed 01 Mar 2006 09:27:03 PM
well not new..but you might recognise it!

after some test fitting looks like i'll need to do some mods to the left side where the turbo inlet is.

the otherside is good and matches up with existing piping! wooo.

cant use the outlet that i got of cisco because of the way my turbo outlet is sitting.booo..might get it rotated but ill see...the turbo in side of the cooler comes VERY close to the alternator too.

also cisco whats with the top bolt on the support bar being offset to the one near the bottom? It doesn't line up with the bonnet latch on mine! some front end or something possibly in the past?

some pics.

nah thats down the bottom..blame a possum or something for that...cooler still sits flat.

i was saying that standard the support bar that goes from that lower bar up to the bonnet catch is straight..

Wow that looks familiar!

Looks great mate.

Yeah weird-ass that whole offset bolt thing, but hey, it fit perfectly on my car, I must have a bent car. bahah who knows.

I don't seem to have any bent chassis rails or anything, I think my radiator support panel wasn't the straightest though.

I always just thought that the idiots who drilled those holes just slapped it on there and drilled the holes without actually centering everything. But who knows..

Nice one, good luck with it.

Yeh i wouldnt be worrying too much...

Seems you can bend a micra front end by hitting a decent pothole...

Loving that bar NeX.

Maybe a future aquisition from Japan sometime, a Japspec bar.

Mmmn, I like the look of that bumper with no number plate lump...

If anyone is unfortunate enough to damage their Super S front bumper and it is replaced under insurance, please let me know.

If I think it is salvageable, I'd like to take the old one of your hands to have a play around with. :-(

Cisco, did you replace the bumper on s-shortcake after the Ute incident last year or was it repaired?

Sorry if all that sounds a bit mercenary, it's not intended to.

Hi micra-man,

Nah actually the bumper was just scraped, but not even torn or damaged, so its still on the car. And believe it or not, we just haven't had a change to get that bodywork fixed yet. Its just been cleaned up a bit with polish etc.

Bumper just needs a respray and the front left guard is dinged in a bit needs popping out and respraying too, but luckily no structural damage at all.

yeah was talking to nex bout that bumper apparently they used a donor super s bumper and it was real pain to get the curve right. tried it out of fibreglass and didnt work.

yes cisco, you can imagine they've got WAY too many frontbars just lying in a big heap waiting to be recycled (or whole micra's for that matter) while we're down here struggling

we're in the wrong place for micra parts lol

Can't look at that pic Cisco!
I reckon if you lined up a 20ft container and did a real scrounge around Japan you would come back chockers and only cost would be the shipping.

but the customs kick your ass..

they'd want to know what the value of the goods inside were, and tax you on it.

mate just brought back a container full worth of stuff..and got taxed about $6k..depends on the situation though
